Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Rescue Now Services. At Rescue Now Services, volunteers are an essential part of our work. We have various opportunities for you to get involved with addressing the immediate needs of community members experiencing food insecurity and homelessness.
Who can volunteer?
Our volunteers include individuals, families, students, retirees, senior citizens, corporate groups, religious organizations, school groups, and others who help us serve our community. The minimum age to volunteer is 12; an adult must accompany anyone 15 or younger. Volunteers must be at least 16 to work directly with people receiving our services
Volunteer Opportunities
Food Shelf Greeter and Assistants:
Cheerfully welcome community members to the food shelf and explain the procedures for registering or obtaining their food. Assist with stocking shelves, helping clients with completing their order forms, filing orders, and assisting with cleaning and organizing. Shifts available: Tuesdays from 10am to 1pm, Fridays from 3pm to 5:30pm, and 1st Thursdays from 3pm to 6:30pm. Bilingual volunteers needed.
Warehouse Volunteers:
Requires lifting, bending, and carrying boxes down a flight of 7 stairs. Moving delivered food boxes into the storage area, sorting inventory, and breaking down boxes. Shelter Greeter and Assistants:
Cheerfully welcome community members to the shelter. Assist Shelter Advocates with intake process, serving of meals, and setting up and breaking down the sleeping area. Shifts are available daily during the winter season from 6pm to 7am.
Home Delivery Driver:
Requires the use of one’s personal vehicle. Deliver food to seniors and community members without transportation. *This position requires a background check*
Food Rescue Pick-up:
Collect and deliver food donations to our food shelf. This physically demanding role involves bending, lifting boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, and loading and unloading packed goods into a van. We are also looking for on-call drivers to sub when regular drivers are unavailable occasionally. Please indicate on the volunteer application if you want to be trained as an on-call sub. Shifts are available on Mondays – Fridays from 7 am to 10 am.
Off-Site Volunteer Opportunities:
Social Media/Content Creator/Graphic Designers are needed to create attention grabbing media for our social media pages
